To Rip A Butterfly

To Rip A Butterfly

To Rip A Butterfly is a two part project that in ongoing, beginning in August of 2020.

The piece consists of a physical collage of scanned butterfly wings that was translated into prints upon t-shirts and long sleeve crewnecks. This was the first piece of merchandise I have sold as a designer, and included additional print material along with the shirts. This included stickers and lenticular postcards that showcase a color shift or gradient when picked up and moved around.

The title of this project is an homage to the album “To Pimp A Butterfly” by Kendrick Lamar. This album is a big inspiration to my work and my time spent at Emily Carr University.
